Dugan’s most significant contribution to the Boys & Girls Clubs has been in his role as Comprehensive Campaign Co-Chair. Dugan has served on the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley’s (BGCTNV) corporate board for nearly 16 years. In 2011, with a clear vision for our organization, he was instrumental in executing a strategic plan as part of the steering committee. Out of the strategic plan emerged a comprehensive campaign to raise $14 million to build a state-of-the-art community center to extend our reach to more kids and expand our services. As campaign co-chair, Dugan has raised over $14 million in campaign funds, not including his own generous personal gift. BGCTNV was able to break ground on the new facility in March of this year. Almost on a daily basis throughout the campaign, he was in communication with a member of our staff to discuss action items, motivate our leadership team, and ask what we need to do next to take our campaign to the next level.

During the past four years under Dugan’s leadership, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley has added seven new Club locations, bringing the total from 13 to 20 Clubs. A major campaign goal was to broaden our reach and increase the number of youth served to 7,500 by 2018. With Dugan’s help driving this initiative, we are already serving 2,000 more kids than we were at the launch of the campaign.

Dugan has served in leadership roles on a number of Boys & Girls Club committees including the Board Development Committee where he helped make Tennessee Valley’s board one of the most engaged, highest performing boards across the footprint of our organization. He also serves on the Resource Development and Finance Committees.

Dugan was instrumental in bringing the Knoxville Open on the Ben Hogan Tour (now called the News Sentinel Open on the Web.com Tour) to our community. He was co-chairman of the committee for the initial tournament that benefitted the Boys & Girls Clubs. This year will mark the tournament’s 26th year, and Dugan remains involved.

Dugan strengthens our organization with solid leadership and a drive to succeed. As demonstrated by his dedication and service, he deeply cares about our community and the kids at the Boys & Girls Clubs.

Dugan has been extremely active in the Knoxville community volunteering his time to organizations that value children and healthcare and promote the arts, education and professional growth. He is a former board member of East Tennessee Children’s Hospital, Nucleus Knoxville, Knoxville Art Museum, Mercy Health Foundation, and the Knoxville Zoo. He has held a number of leadership positions including president of Nucleus Knoxville, cabinet member of the United Way, and appointee to the University of Tennessee Knoxville Chancellor’s Associates. Currently, Dugan serves as Chairman of the Catholic Diocese of Knoxville’s Capital Campaign. Last year, Dugan was recognized as Outstanding Volunteer Professional at National Philanthropy Day by the Great Smoky Mountain Chapter Association of Fundraising Professionals.
