Boys & Girls Clubs in Tennessee - 2020 Hall of Fame Inductee

David Wild

David Wild has served on the Board of Directors at the Boys & Girls Club of Morristown for 27 years now. He has served as Chairman of the Board/CVO (from 2014-2016), Vice Chair of the Board (2012-2014), Chair of the President’s Council/Executive Committee (2016-2018), Chair of the Facility & Property Management Committee (2008-present), Chair of the New Safety Committee, served as Co-Chair of the Super Auction Committee (largest annual fundraiser), served on several other committees and has been a leading fundraiser, donor and board recruiter for the Morristown organization.
Along with his wife Stacy, herself a supporter and volunteer, David has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for the Club while volunteering hundreds of hours working directly with Boys & Girls Club members and other youth throughout the local community. David’s interests and support of the Boys & Girls Club extend way beyond his financial support and outstanding leadership as David has been a leading board member who is recognized annually on the Club’s “Board Challenge” list for his direct involvement with Boys & Girls Club programs and members.
David has mentored teens through the Career Launch and Young Men of Distinction programs provided meals and served them to members through the Tasty Tuesday & Thursday (TT&T) meals program, provided Christmas for members and their families, and provided a unique “UT Gameday Experience” by taking a bus load of members to a UT football game (more than once) then included tailgating, food at the game and souvenirs for everyone. He also has provided similar trips to Tennessee Volunteers Men’s basketball games. He has played an integral part in conducting golf clinics for members as well as a golf outing scramble for many years. Additionally, he was instrumental in the Boys & Girls Club partnering with Young Life to work with many troubled kids from the Hamblen County Juvenile Court System.
Perhaps his most notable contributions to our local organization have been through his leadership of the Boys & Girls Club’s Facility and Property Management Committee. Over the past 17 years, he has spearheaded the board’s efforts to renovate and update the Boys & Girls Club’s facility including renovating the swimming pool, expanding, and paving the Club’s parking lots, purchasing and installing the new security camera system, replacing the Club’s restroom partitions, installing a new roof for the health facility and purchasing a new 15 passenger mini-bus along with several other projects.
Looking to the Boys & Girls Club of Morristown’s future, Wild is also a board trustee and major donor to the Boys and Girls Club Foundation of Morristown, which is a separate 501(c)(3) organization that has raised over three million dollars for organizational use over his tenure serving the Boys & Girls Club.
Wild has received the highest honor the Boys & Girls Club of Morristown provides including: the Golden Youth Award (1999), the Boys & Girls clubs of America National Service to Youth Award (2006), the President’s Award (2016) and several other recognitions for his service to youth and our community.
Wild also serves our larger community in many ways including: Young Life (leading fundraiser), serves as President of the Trojan Army (local high school alumni group), serves as a Deacon at First Baptist Church in Morristown, GO Tell Crusade Chairman, Morristown Parks & Recreation Department Coach (baseball and basketball) and their Hall of Fame Inductee. David Wild has conducted over 300 fundraisers for our local area non-profits through one of his businesses. Professionally, Wild is the Owner/President of Wild Building and Partner of Ultimate Shine Car Washes. David has been married to his wife Stacy for 40 years. They have three adult children including Lance (Holly), Logan (who is also a Boys & Girls Club of Morristown Board Member) and Lindsey and three grandchildren – Hayden (11), Hudson (5) and Hallie (1).
According to Executive Director John Seals, “David is a true servant leader that always goes above and beyond to support our organization and this community. He is truly deserving of this recognition but does not seek state-wide recognition. That is why he is such a great volunteer, mentor and friend.”
