Clyde McFuire

Clyde McGuire grew up in the Boys & Girls Club of Cleveland, Tennessee where becoming a Boys & Girls Club member, changed his life forever. His proudest moments in his list of multiple honors came when he was named Youth of the Month in 1966 and 1967 during his time as a member of the Boys Club of Cleveland.  Upon graduation from high school, Clyde worked at the Boys & Girls Club during college, fulfilling roles including life guard, Games Room Instructor, P.E. Director, Bus Driver, Group Clubs Advisor and Program Director. After graduating from Lee University, Clyde worked as a Program Director with the Boys & Girls Club in Raleigh, North Carolina.    
In 1980, Clyde became the Assistant Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Club of Mobile, Alabama and the following year, he was promoted to Executive Director. Under Clyde’s leadership, the Mobile organization grew from a budget of $100,000 and service to 250 youth, to a total organization budget over $8 million with service to over 20,000 youth. McGuire grew the Boys & Girls Clubs in Mobile, Alabama from two sites to eleven and grew the organizations membership by 2000% over a five-year period. During his tenure as the Executive Director, Clyde was recognized as the Professional of the Year in Alabama, Optimist of the Year, recipient of the Robert Sykes Award and in 1992 he was named Boys & Girls Clubs of America National Executive of the Year.    
In October of 2001, Clyde joined the Boys & Girls Club of America’s Southeast staff and currently serves thirty-eight Boys & Girls Club organizations across Alabama and Mississippi. Clyde has been a national leader in new club promotion, providing technical assistance to local Clubs and innovative thinking. A mission driven servant, Clyde lead the charge to serve the needs of youth and communities in the rural South, opening 64 new Boys & Girls Club sites and seven new Boys & Girls Club Corporations, state funding and special investment in the two states. In 2013, Clyde joined the team of Club Advancement Services, which is now known as Emerging Markets and has provided leadership to sites in Texas, Alabama, Mississippi and Florida. He recently received the President's Award and is the only two-time recipient to   receive this honor. He also received the BGCA National Service to Youth Award for his 35 years of service. In addition to his work with the National Boys & Girls Club organization, Clyde also served as the National President of the Professional Association from 2000 to 2002 and has spearheaded many initiatives to make Boys & Girls Club work a true profession.    
Outstanding Boys & Girls Club leaders go out of their way to lift the self-esteem of those they serve. Clyde has lived that value and helped countless club professionals, comminutes, board leaders, donors, and BGCA professional to great successes. Clyde and his wife Kathee live in Theodore, Alabama and they are the proud parents of four children and three  grandchildren.
